Thursdays - 8:45 - 10:15 a.m.Using Gentle Somatic Yoga® as our base, this class explores shapes and asanas from the chair, standing, and floor (not on the knees.) Within each class, I incorporate the modalities I feel will best suit the population in class that day including but not limited to Viniyoga practices, breathing and meditation practice and an opportunity to just "move to music". Perfect for active seniors and those with simple uncomplicated mobility challenges. The intention for this group is to encourage the creation and integration of healthy patterns of gentle movement, extension and hold for over-all health of the entire body and its collective systems. Gentle Somatic Yoga® Plus; Level 1
Thursdays - 10:45-12:00 noon
Using Gentle Somatic Yoga® as our base and integrating other modalities including Viniyoga, this class is intended for those with chronic pain/moderate limitations. To receive the greatest benefit, we use the chair for support in both seated and standing shapes and asanas. While we do move to the floor, we are never on the hands and knees. The intention is to change old patterns and to integrate new musco-skeletal information, to encourage alignment, strength and flexibility in the body. This is done by employing gentle somatic flow and hold practices designed to release pain and tension. Time is spent using the breath to help direct attention to challenging areas where pain is held.
